This year was the 38th year of community in unity!

The magic happened!.. Everyone was amazed!

One could well be  complacent with something that has  been  happening  for 38 years! It could well be  regarded as a  routine operation which happens because all who participate are familiar  with proceedings .

The ONE to ONE DAY FAIR  dispels  that thinking  in all aspects..  particularly that  of  excitement  and enjoyment. This year  certainly had all the elements of a caring society providing some of the city’s “special people “ with a day of fun , laughter and enjoyment in each other’s company.

To  be part of the enthusiasm of participating organizations is  but one facet. The other is  the excitement the disabled guest expresses in the caring environment. And to add  a pulse to that the beat  of the music provides the impetus for a special interaction between 2 elements of the citizens of Cape Town. The one is able .. the other disabled.

We are particularly thankful for  the sponsors who assist us  in arranging the day and to our  City Council who have embraced  this  communal event  as an important one  on the social development calendar of activities. It is  no cliché’……  Cape Town , by its actions  at ONE to ONE  does care!

After 38 years one may feel.. “we’ve done it all  ….  However with ONE to ONE the challenge is  there to improve and to continue to   provide  this  wonderful symbiosis between the caring and those who need  to be cared for.

The collaborative efforts of the organisers (i.e. stall holders, sponsors, entertainers and venue management) together with the efforts of the Western Cape Forum for Intellectual Disability is without a doubt something that the Mother City of Cape Town can feel justifiably proud.

Different people... different outlooks and priorities... but with a common goal... the magic for all...which is ONE to ONE!!

Live Entertainment 2018:

An exciting element of this communal initiative has been the provision of live entertainment at ONE to ONE. That facet of enjoyment complements the activities of the stalls with alternative forms of excitement and a reason to enjoy the day.

Those providing such entertainment do so willingly and bring something special to the day in the manner they express their talents. Thank you Roving Magicians - Jesse Brooks and Jacques le Seur.

The efforts of many contribute to the success of the day... and we wish to recognise with very grateful thanks and admiration the efforts of: Paul Zuckerman, David Raphael, David Holzhausen, Felicity Dreyer, Tessa Woods, Ralph Mayer, Zach Helfrich, Jacques  van Wyk (our Safety Officer) and a  host of others each of whom played a role in the success of the day. And one needs to recognise too the role of Shane Thomas, the events co-ordinator of the Cape Town Stadium played in facilitating arrangements for ONE to ONE 37!!

An acknowledgement for the pictures to Steve Sherman, Aimee Isaacs, Albert Glass.
